What to do in Napa

The Napa Valley - what a great place to visit! The adjacent map will give you the lay of the land as far as where the class is and compared to downtown Napa and other amazing Napa Valley cities.

After the class, which is held Thursday and Friday - consider staying the weekend, or the week. Of course, all the winery information is readily available online - so I’ve put together some of our favorite ideas from our daytrips with Freeland and Sabrina.

Downtown Napa.

The CIA at Copia is an epicurean destination in downtown Napa, California, operated by the Culinary Institute of America. It offers cooking classes, public events, art exhibits, restaurants, a wine bar, and a culinary marketplace. Strolling the property and the gardens is free. More info here.

Oxbow Market

Oxbow Public Market is like a foodie's dream playground! Imagine a place where you can sample gourmet cheeses, sip on fine wines, and savor delicious pastries, all under one roof. Whether you're craving fresh oysters or a unique gift from one of the boutique shops, Oxbow has you covered.

Celadon

We splurged for dinner one night at Celedon, described as Upscale Eclectic comfort food served in cozy digs with weathered brick walls & rustic courtyard. You’ll love it!

Cakebread Cellars

Great wine is a given at Cakebread. But they also offer a Sustainable Wines and Vines Tour. Sam (ask for her) gave us a wonderful tour of the beautifully landscaped property as well as the substantial vegetable garden.

Lombardi’s Gourmet barbecue

If you're a BBQ lover, you'll be thrilled to visit Lombardi's. Both day trips with Freeland and Sabrina included a stop here. Freeland never misses a chance to gently remind me of what I'm missing by sending photos from Lombardi’s whenever he's there and I'm not!

Sebastopol (just north of Petaluma)

Rick Petteford Antiques, Art Mid-Century

Rick always has new product, including an outdoor area of garden art. Freeland and Sabrina shop here often.

Florence Ave, Sebastopol, CA

Colorful and quirky metal sculptures made from recycled junk materials are displayed along Florence Avenue and throughout Sebastopol.

Patrick Amiot sculpts the pieces using discarded objects and scrap material. His wife, Brigitte Lauent, paints them in bold vibrant colors.
